Feeling human

Last night I watched Salem’s Lot, the 2004 version starring Rob Lowe. It as very long, but pretty darn good. The vampire effects were scary and the story is creepy and you just aren’t sure at all who is going to survive. I liked it.

Possibly because of the movie, I slept all scrunched up and woke up at 3.30 with searing neck pain. Lying flat on my back relieved it mostly although I wasn’t able to get back to sleep again til around 5. I made it into work because it is a public holiday and there weren’t many people rostered on. After doing my specialist stuffs I came home again at the recommendations of my workmates. It was probably just as well because even after nurofen I kind of wanted to cry from the pain.
Hot baths help a lot. I had a long hot bath and then lay flat on my bed and dozed for a while. Unable to properly sleep I got up, feeling a bit less like crying. I am amazed at how poorly I cope with pain. Must EFT tap on it.

via Gala I read this awesome article on polyamory by Steve Pavlina. Also that Polardroid has a Windows version finally. I just downloaded it so that I can turn my digital photos into digital polaroids. Should be fun. I will upload one when I’ve worked out how to use it.

WordPress is quickly winning my love. I love the blog stats page so much: I can see who is clicking from where! I can see how many people are reading each post! I can write blog posts in visual or html, I also like the random monster icons that comments generate. So cute….Still searching for the perfect theme though. I like the colours of this one but it’s a little boring to look at, I want wee pictures or cartoons or something. I spent a lot of time during ‘Salem’s Lot googling ‘free wordpress themes’ and finding stuff that isn’t quite right. I will find it one day though. Have faith gentle reader :)

Things I Love Thursday

  • A brand New Year! I’m feeling very very good about 2009. I achieved so much in 2008 and I learnt so much. This year I’m going to take it all further! Gambatte! Do your best!
  • Getting off work early when you had expected to work all day is a good good thing. Especially when it is sunny and warm outside, your beloved is waiting at home and you have things to do, people to see! Work was dead quiet so when the afternoon staff came in us 8am-ers were relieved. It was awesome. Lee and I went to visit my sister and her family and went to the mall as well. Awesome outcome for a day that had looked bleak (wake-up, work, come home, crash).
  • Summer. Yeah, you know this already. But come on, shorts and singlets, gelato, having light at 8.30pm…you love it too.
  • Baby excitement, because when one of your best friends is pregnant it’s really freaking exciting! And in a different way to when some one in your family is pregnant somehow…not better or worse, but exciting in a subtely different way. Anyway fully exciting.
  • Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is what I am re-reading right now and I’m finding it compulsive. I have to know what happens next. Even though I already know. Looking forward to rereading Deathly Hallows as well. Plus the other awesome books I have lined up.
  • A Big stack of DVDs waiting for me to watch them…..hmmmm if only I could have a couple of weeks off from life to just watch stuff all day and night.
  • Flying Buritto Brothers Ok, so I haven’t eaten there lately but we’re going there on Saturday. Om nom nom. But the real question is do I want the Holy Mole or a buritto or tacos or tostadas? Because they’re all good! How does a girl choose?
  • Also, StephenFry is on twitter! And he updates all the time! And and he is in Wellington right now! And and and he *added me back!* He is following my tweets!!!! Well…I dunno that he’s actually y’know reading them or whatever, but I don’t care because *he added me back*!!!!!! Now y’all are totally going to join twitter right?

Honourable Mentions: hollow chocolate Santa, snuggling on the couch in the sun with a comfy pillows and blankets, thinking about awesome stuff I’m going to write in the future, people watching from my lounge, entertaining guests, sharing delicious foods and my Lee.

Please comment (I know it’s new and scary but I promise it won’t hurt) and share your list of things you are thankful for on the first day of the new year.

Point of Fashion: I suspect these shorts are daggy, but I don’t care.

Current Obsession: sunshine, happiness and the future.
