Saturday morning
Happy 29th birthday Lee!
Love this article on the origins of 20 Muppets, sourced via Jezebel. Plus now I can tell which one is Stadler and which is Waldorf.
Last night we watched The Valley of Gwangi, which is more or less the story from King Kong except it’s cowboys going and getting a dinosaur from a weird evil dangerous place and bringing it back to a town in Mexico. It was completely awesome to watch in a big group all yelling at the screen and making jokes. There’s some dispute about whether it was a Tyrannosaurus or an Allosaur, including in the making of featurette. Either way it was Gwangi and we loved him. I also loved Carlos, the incredibly bad-ass Mexican/gypsy who rassled a bull to the ground and then rassled a pterodactyl as well. Bad ass. He made an interesting choice during the triceratops/allosaurus smack down though that turned out to be his undoing. Oh Carlos, you were too good for this world.
Plans for today: brunch at Sweet Mother’s Kitchen, go to the library, join a DVD rental place (Fatso.co.nz didn’t work out to be a cheap option), lounge about, dinner at FBB. Om nom nom.
