Things I Love Thursday

I don’t love the lack of watching 500 movies/blogging reviews I’ve been doing lately, but plans are to improve my watching this weekend while Anna is busy with singing convention stuff… And the craft I’ve been doing is a bit secret so I can’t blog those…. but hey, positivity!

Hamilton gardens! Anna and I took a road trip to Hamilton for a goodbye party and stayed the night at a nice wee motor inn, it was sunny weather on Sunday so we took a wander through the gardens before leaving. They’re just so pretty and I especially loved the Indian and English Tudor gardens, which I hadn’t seen before.

It’s hard to tell but there are a lot of happy bees in this picture.

The chess board esque tudor gardens has neat little mythic animals on poles guarding it. Loved them.

Turtle dragon dude in the Chinese scholar’s garden, which is another favourite of mine. It’s just so lovely and Anna was particularly taken with the names of the different garden sections.

Italian Rennaissance garden is just so freaking lovely looking.

My car! It’s just a pleasure to drive short or long distances. It looks great, shiny and blue, the air con and the heaters work like a dream. It’s a beautiful car and I adore it.

My Dentist is cheaper than I am used to having to pay, and she’s so freaking good. She’s not just funny and informative when it comes to what she’s doing, she works delicately with a minimum of pain inducing stuff and she’s done quick. I’m so happy, she’s fixed up my face and I’m no longer in pain.

❤ postcards from friends, or rather a series of postcards from one friend 🙂

Betty and Veronica!

Honourable Mentions: warm raccoon hat, soft fluffy hair on the back of my head, my players enjoying the Monsterhearts game I’m running, Cake Wrecks, My Chemical Romance loud in the car and Lindt chocolate

Things I Love Thursday

It’s really hard for me to focus on normal things when I have toothache, so I know I’ve been crankier than normal this week but I still have things to be thankful for.

Like this ridiculously cheerful song we had on a James Galway record when I was a kid…

Netflix being in New Zealand is so super awesome because I can stream stuff directly in my TV now. It’s annoying that the range of media isn’t the same as the American version of Netflix but it’s still full of some great stuff. Anna and I have been enjoying Sword Art Online 🙂

The most beautiful sentences in English literature is rather a nice list.

My mum had no projects to do and I had too many so she’s made me a flannellette quilt and it arrived this week. It’s so snuggly and warm, just in time for the colder weather coming on. I love my mum!

Honourable Mentions: cuddles from Anna, happy news from friends, panadeine, crafting, Monster High, seeing movies out at the cinema, lots of cinema snacks, music and laughing.

The gorgeously ridiculous cast of Welcome to Night Vale bringing some queer to Mississippi

Things I Love Thursday

Wellington. It was nice to get back to the capital, see some of my friends, drive familiar roads, go to some of the best restaurants and even get some gaming in.

Instax photos they’re so fun!

plus it’s nice to have pics of the people I love.

Easter chocolate reduced to clear. I don’t think I need to explain this one but I get really excited about the cheap chocolate.

Honourable Mentions: mum’s home cooking, reading Jacqueline Wilson books, getting craft done and having great craft ideas, pizza, hot dogs, BBQ chicken and snuggles with my darling girl.

Old song but I’ve only just watched the video, it would be nice if the girl was wearing a whole outfit, but Ed’s little smile which shows how much he’s enjoying the dance makes it quite lovely.

Self image and beauty, loving yourself in a TED talk. Important things to think about re: relating to the girls and women in your life and self esteem.

actually the best thing I found out from watching this video is that searching ‘proana’ on tumblr brings up an ‘are you okay?’ message and numbers for help lines. Which is unexpected and I am into it.

Sunday Crafting

Okay I know I’m not publishing this on Sunday but I did do the crafting mostly on Sunday !

While I’m at my mum’s place I pretty much always want to do craft, because she is always doing craft and her house is full of patchwork quilts. I hadn’t brought anything but mum had scraps of flannelette hanging around. So I scrawled a wee pattern and started making some little owlies.

One of them went a little lop sided so I made it into a monster face instead.

I left them with mum to sell for Parkinson’s fund raising.
