In England, Darius and Calvin are being driven by a young and enthusiastic slayer called Amelia. She goes very fast and doesn’t look at the road that often.
Calvin: Um, which side of the road are we meant to be on?
Amelia: whichever one’s empty.
She tells them stories about the various monsters she’s slain and Darius mentions that they have their own bone demon. (Haruni). Calvin asks her what she knows about evil twins from another dimension and how to defeat them.
Amelia: you’d have to talk to the technical department about that.
Monday morning at school, Fall River. Alex is looking for Calvin who is not there at all. Mason tracks her down instead.
Mason: Hey, I’m sorry about your brother.
Alex: Thanks.
Mason: could you give him this? (hands over a packet of gum.)
Alex: Yeah, sure…so have you seen Calvin?
M: He’ll be around somewhere.
Alex notices Megan talking to Gina and that Gina is not freaking out like crazy. Suspicious, Alex goes over and asks what’s up. Megan explains how Darius did the spell, ‘and then I realised that they eat Guinea pigs in Peru.
Megan: Yeah.
Alex asks about the spell and Megan tries to give her the potted version. It turns out the story is complicated and she might need to explain some more.
Alex: Darius is Calvin’s sister?
Megan: No, Darius and Calvin’s sister are sharing the same body at the moment.
Megan explains a little more about the spell and what it was like. ‘We think its the carrots that made it go wrong.’ She explains a little more…
Alex: Calvin and Darius have gone to England????
They talk about when they will be able to talk to the boys again, which they are all keen to do, and decide to meet up after school, at Calvin’s house, to call them. Alex mentions that she will be going patrolling later too.
Megan: Do you….need help?
Alex: I dont need anyone to hold a torch for me, there’s lights at the cemetery.
Meanwhile, in the old country, Darius, Calvin and Amelia arrive at the Wicca headquarters. The place looks like a nice English manor house with stables from the outside but is seriously high tech inside. They wander around in awe, except for how Martha sometimes pushes through to wave at or try to hug girls she knows. It’s weird. The girls pay a fair it of attention to them since the boys are both pretty and attractive. However when they find out that Darius did magic with no training, they start getting sarcastic.
They meet Henrietta, who greets them with ‘what a pickle you’ve got yourself in.’ She proceded to be charmingly patronising to Darius as regards making up your own spell and trying it out in front of a magic mirror, etc etc. Calvin asks her a bit about slayers and tries to get information about that whole thing. They are suprised to learn that they are recruiting for an army, it all sounds rather ominous.
Darius: Which reminds me, I read in a book in my Dad’s library about something called Watchers. What are those?
Hen: The watchers were alll killed a year ago. They’re largely irrelevant now, the slayers train themselves.
D: How is that working out for them?
Calvin: It’s good if you’re in the army.
Henrietta takes the boys into a kind of infirmary where Martha’s body is lying comatose on a bed. She invites Darius to take the bed next to her and does the spell. The spell itself doesn’t take long, the waiting for them to wake up is the time suck. Calvin asks Henrietta about the facility and the slayer army, he mentions that they have a friend who is a slayer.
Hen: Oh, she’ll be with one of the American groups.
C: Um, no, she’s with….us. Look do you have pamphlets or something I could take back?
H: Yes, here. (She hands him something that looks rather like a medical info pamphlet “so you think you’re a slayer”.)
Darius and Martha wake up. Calvin and Martha have a slightly tearful reunion and they pack up to go. Martha says goodbye to her friends and they drive to the nearest supermarket where Darius runs wild buying all the stuff he can’t get in America.
Back in the good ol’ USA Megan, Gina and Alex meet up after school. Gina has one of Calvin’s family’s cars and gives them a lift back to his place. They conference call to Calvin’s phone. Calvin and Darius have found a B&B for the night. He puts them all on speakerphone.
Calvin: so it turns out you’re not the only slayer. There’s like, hundreds of them and they have an army.
Alex: an army?
C: yeah, it was a bit ominous.
Darius: and there were watchers!
Alex asks when they’re coming back to America. Darius wanted to look up his old house, so they say they’ll be back in a day or so.
Megan, hearing all this, goes online and finds a website “1slayerinalltheworld.com”. On the homepage there’s a link for if you think you’re a slayer. When clicked on it shows a handprint and invites you to lay your hand on the screen. Alex does so, is approved and the screen flicks through to a message board. An message icon pops up from Andrew (using some name like Legolas) which says “hey, you’re new!”
Alex spends a while too long filling in her profile section and then goes further in, trying to find more information. She gave up, I can’t remember why, probably because she is a woman of action. The girls go out patrolling, Gina surprising the others by coming along too.
At the cemetery a flying monkey attacks the group, Alex wrestles with it, trying to take it out. The group is attacked from behind by a vampire who goes for Megan.
‘I drop the monkey,’ Alex says, but it’s too late, the vampire picks up Megan and throws her at Alex, who uses her slayer skills to dodge. Megan connects with a gravestone and falls down. Alex steps in to beat up the vamp, laying punches and kicks on it. Gina steps in at an opportune moment and stabs it with her stake. The vamp dusts.
Alex: well done Gina, you just bagged your first vampire.
Gina (terrified): yay?
Over in England Darius, Calvin and Martha have arrived at his old house. It’s unoccupied, but there’s a for sale sign out the front. Inside the place is covered in dust but hasn’t been disturbed. There are signs of a hasty exit. On the answer machine, after his parents’ voices is a message from someone called Giles telling them to leave immediately. Darius calls the number of his only remaining relative, his uncle, who seems to find his call very inconvenient. He makes it clear that no one is willing to take D in, and he’d rather just sell the house and get it over with it. Dejected, Darius finds Nebby’s old food bowl and some photo albums. He’s standing looking at the pictures when Calvin comes back downstairs, having done a search for anything useful that was left behind.
There’s a very touching moment where Calvin puts his hand on Darius’s shoulder. Martha comes over too and looks at the photos.
Martha: It’s strange to look at those and I’m not in them.
Darius: why would you be in them?
Martha: I remember these people. I remember that day.
Darius, realising he still has some of Martha’s memories too: Huh.
Martha: it’s been kind of weird.
They take a few things and head out of the house to drive back to the airport.

Ah good, I was hoping this would pop up before tomorrow night! Oh and Mason gave Alex tic tacs for Jared, orange ones are his favourite. Mason’s so thoughtful…
Man, my notes were pretty sucky for this session. I could have sworn it was gum, because gum seems lamer.
I also remembered that there was a whole scene at the end where Calvin, Martha and Darius come home and talk to Megan and Alex and Gina and they asked how Megan got so beat up. And Calvin asked Darius if he wanted to crash for the night.
